HANNA + JOHN'S PROPOSAL
This entire day was literally the epitome of “if he wanted to, he would.”
Knowing that they wanted their wedding to happen sometime in the next year, Hanna decided to start reaching out to vendors before she even got her ring (she thought the proposal was coming in the winter, and didn’t want all her vendors to be booked already haha). We connected though her best friend and maid of honor, Cathy, who happens to be my childhood best friend that I’ve known since I was 2(!!), and quickly started chatting about wedding details for 2024. Little did she know, a few weeks later, John reached out and asked me to fly out to New Jersey to capture the proposal (that he knew was not happening in the winter lol).
Cathy joked that John was not much of a planner, but I literally would’ve never guessed that with how much effort he put in to his grand proposal plan. From doing a test run with the string lights on the pavilion (where he’d send me photos of the lighting conditions every half hour as the sun was setting omg) to assigning different roles for friends to accomplish day-of, there wasn’t a single element to the night that John didn’t think of and plan for. Hanna thought she was going to a fancy dinner with John’s parents, and John casually suggested to stop by the pier where they had their first date beforehand since it was so close. There, they exchanged their 3-year anniversary gifts before John got down on one knee. I’m not even sure Hanna had responded before we heard cheering and yelling as all of their friends ran down the pier to tackle them and congratulate the two.
The proposal was then followed by the engagement party that John had set up. (I’m still dying over the immediate formation of the girls gossip circle at the venue to go over every single detail from Hanna’s perspective haha.) After some celebratory drinks, the night ended with a fun game that John created for everyone there. Truly the most incredible evening I’ve ever been a part of, and I can’t wait to capture their wedding August 2024.
