Eloping isn’t about skipping the celebration—it’s about stripping away everything that doesn’t matter and holding onto what does. When you choose to create a day that feels true to you, every detail becomes more meaningful. Your elopement should feel like a reflection of your love—not anyone else’s expectations.
When Joanna and Martins reached out to me and explained the vision for their Laguna Beach elopement, I couldn’t help but feel so excited to capture a day that was truly authentic to them and their love. Keep reading to see all the ways they made their elopement both memorable and full of pure fun so that you, too, can do the same!

The day began slowly at home, with the kind of quiet comfort that only comes from sharing a space you’ve built together. With their favorite record playing in the background, they moved through the morning with ease. That simple intimacy set the tone for the entire day.

In the sleek Porsche they had rented for the day, they drove down the coast to Laguna Beach with windblown hair and nothing but excitement ahead.
They exchanged vows on the sand, just the two of them. Amongst the salty air and soft breeze, everything felt beautifully still. Even with moments of high tide sweeping cold ocean water over their feet, Joanna and Martins embraced every single moment. There’s something special about choosing a setting that already means something to you—the ceremony was simple, sincere, and completely theirs.

After the ceremony, they did what felt most natural: grabbing breakfast at their favorite spot. Still in wedding attire, they pulled up to Ruby’s Diner, ordered their usuals (and a milkshake!), and shared a meal like they’ve done dozens of times before — just this time, as newlyweds.

But the day would not be complete without one more celebration with their absolute favorite treat: Krispy Kreme donuts. A dozen fresh donuts and the kind of love and laughter that only comes from knowing you did your day your way.

Joanna and Martins’ non-traditional elopement is the perfect example of how letting go of trends can lead to something so much more meaningful. No forced timelines. No expectations. Just a day filled with moments that made them feel grounded, joyful, and completely themselves.
If you’re dreaming of a personalized elopement day that’s simple, meaningful, and true to you, I’d be honored to document it. Reach out here to get started!
